Bookshop Visit: Black History Month Special – Afrori Books, Brighton

Afrori Books in Brighton is one of my favourite bookshops and one absolutely deserved of a special shout out this month.

Nestled in the heart of Brighton and a quick walk from the station, Afrori Books specialises in books by Black authors. Opening in 2021, they’re not only an award winning bookshop but also host Brighton Book Fest as well.

The shelves are stacked with Black authors from every genre and there’s always a wide selection to choose from. They’ve got a brilliant graphic novel range and I always can find something in the fantasy section too.

The bookshop itself is a great space and has some great features such as Carolyn’s Bookshelf where patrons can pick up a book and read in store as well as blind dates books and an incredible signed author wall too.

And if that isn’t enough, they’re also launching a podcast later this month in search of finding the next 100 Black classics. You can find them on all podcast platforms and on youtube here.

Make sure you add Afrori Books to your list of places to visit and buy from, you can find their website and more about them here.
