September 2026 New Releases

September and the start of October took a bit of a hit blog wise (wedding, honeymoon then a really fun bout of flu!), but for the sake of consistency, I wanted to keep this blog post in the line up and tell you about all the excellent books that came out last month.

The Birthing Tree – Amanda Peters. Literary. Paperback. Like many others before her, Aliet is born under a sacred tree and now must fight to protect it. Publish date: 01/09.

Big Man – Dean Atta. Literary. Paperback. Atta’s first adult novel follows Big and his story through London; writing with mother and his relationship with Little. Publish date: 03/09.

The Disappearers – Marlon James. Literary. Hardback. Set in the same Jamaica as A Breif History of Seven Killings, eight gay men answer the call for queer play rehersals and their lives will never be the same. Publish date: 03/09.

Cemetery Boys: Espiritu – Aiden Thomas. YA Fantasy. Paperback. The sequel to Cemetery Boys, and this time following Julian who is dealing with his new powers and demons he thought were gone for good. Publish date: 10/09.

Don’t Say Palestine – Assal Rad. Non-Fiction, Politics. Paperback. An “urgent contribution to conversations about journalism, accountability and representation”. Publish date: 10/09.

Anger is Only a Shadow – Elizabeth Acevedo. YA Literary. Paperback. Acevedo is back to YA and I can’t wait for this! Lil is just trying to keep her head down but when her older brother is struggling, she can’t help but speak up. Publish date: 15/09.

The Recovery House – Derek Owusu. Literary. Hardback. Hope is found in a recovery house by a young poet. With themes of friendship, faith and purpose. Publish date: 17/09.

Possibility – Sareeta Domingo. Literary. Paperback. Everything Anika writes in her diary turns out to be a premonition, until it all starts coming true.. Publish date: 20/09.

Empire – Sabaa Tahir. Fantasy. Hardback. The second in the duology after Heir. Empires are fought for with ancient evil and world-changing lies. Publish date: 22/09.

Female Life on Planet Earth – Laleh Khadevi. Literary. Hardback. “The weird thing is, I’m more interested in my mother now she’s dead”. Photographs reveal a hidden past for Heit’s mother. Publish date: 24/09.

American Hagwon – Min Jin Lee. Literary. Hardback. From the author of Pachinko comes her next ” intricate and soul-stirring” novel, which follows the Koh family in a generational epic. Publish date: 29/09.
