My 2025 reading challenge is live and I’ve loved seeing everyone get involved! (Check out this blog here for all the info!). In the spirit or sharing, let me talk through my choices for the nine prompts, most of which are already on my shelves:
A book that has been on your bookshelf for too long – remember the we listen and we don’t judge trend? Well I need a bit of that here. My book for this prompt is Sister Outsider – Audre Lorde. I bought it ages ago and have been drifting away from non-fiction but I’m so ready to get stuck into this!
A book with indigenous rep – I’ve got Walking in Two Worlds by Wab Kinew for this prompt. I picked this one up last year, it’s a YA thriller that caught my eye.
A debut novel – I bought Honey Witch – Sydney J. Shields in the Orbit sale last year and I just love the cover. I saw a lot of love for this one so I hope it lives up to it’s hype.
An author you’ve not read before – This is another one that I saw a lot of love for. I didn’t buy it at the time of release but later last year. I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki – Baek Sehee I’m using for this prompt and I’ve already read and loved it.
A book from your local library – If you’ve been here for a while you’ll probably know I adore the Iron Widow series, so I’m excited to read the authors middle grade book Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor – Xiran Jay Zhao.
A book with disability rep – I was lucky enough to win a proof box from the newly started Akan books. Overspill – Charlotte Paradise was one of the books and I’m really excited for it. I started it last night and I love it so far.
A book with trans rep – This is my only newly bought book which I’ve been almost buying too many times, so with a voucher from Christmas I gave into the pull. Sunbearer Trials – Aiden Thomas is my book for this prompt and I’m really excited for it.
A book you’re really excited for – I’ve seen so much love for Sweetness in the Skin – Ishi Robinson and I know I’ll get lost in it. Also, that cover? Stunning.
A book that’s recommended from a friend – I really like this prompt! I’ve had a few people recommend Dominoes – Phoebe McIntosh to me last year so I’m adding this one here. I couldn’t tell you what it’s about yet but I have a good feeling about it!
I’m trying to pace myself with these at the moment but we’ll see how that goes. I’d love to know what you’re reading if you’re taking part of if you’ve read any of the above!
If this has inspired you to take part then it’s absolutely not too late, have a read of my blog with all of the information here! Those that complete it will be entered into a draw to win a bundle of bookish goodies, it’s a win win!
If you like what you’ve read and would like to access more content, I’d love if you could take a look at my patreon and consider supporting my content on there too.
And don’t forget to check out my other blogs and reviews – you can find books with similar themes in the same folder link below, or click back onto blogs to see the whole offering.
