Review:
The witches are back in the final instalment of the trilogy and I have some thoughts to share. I’m keeping this as spoiler free as possible in case you’ve not read the whole series, so if you’ve read book one or two and need more details then come and chat in the comments!
Since I haven’t shared my thoughts on the first two books in the series, let me give you a quick overview first:
Her Majesty’s Royal Coven – absolutely glorious, I will continue to recommend this book and think it’s brilliant. Love the magic system, the set up for the storyline, the rep, the friendship, the politics. All of it.
The Shadow Cabinet – this book was brilliantly written but made me SO uncomfortable in some parts (there no spoilers here but let me know if you want to talk!). It didn’t fall foul of the second book dip and carried the energy through though.
So now we come to Human Rites and I think it was a fitting ending.
The storylines were wrapped up, I was engaged the whole way through and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. There are some absolutely stand out characters in this series that I will continue to love for a long time.
However, there were two plot points that made me “huh!” out loud. One was just laugh out loud what is this and the other I wonder if it shocked me because I didn’t pick up clues earlier on maybe? But after sitting with it I do quite like it now. But still.
I don’t think it lived up to the first book for me (I don’t know if it could?), but I definitely still recommend it and I’m really looking forward to seeing more reviews and hearing your thoughts!
Let me know if it’s one you’re picking up!
