Review:
The back cover of this book states that this is for the girls and I couldn’t agree more. . This is a book for the rage we feel and the control over our bodies and how others have opinions on EVERYTHING we do. It’s book of rage and revenge, deliciously sprinkled with humour.
The stories range from women getting revenge on those that have wronged them, bearing the burden of motherhood, those finding themselves with talking genitalia and so much more. You’re going to feel something in each of them.
And then we have the cleverly written snippets of fairy tales and folklore that’s been rewritten and these are spectacular. We have the witch from Hansel and Gretel who was furious kids were eating her house (understandable) to Snow White raging that she was woken up (relatable). These were brilliant additions.
And do you know how I know this is for the girls and so brilliantly thought out? There are palate cleaners dotted through. Actual palate cleansers. There are stories of freedom, of deep love and hope 🥹 And my god don’t we need that in the world today. Don’t we need that in every book??
I also have a theory that poets make for incredible novelists, and ABLOC is definitely proving that.
I adored this and I cannot wait to gift this to a lot of friends who need to read this.
