The Bookish Mindset

I thought it was time I did a quick check in of my own!

If you’re new here, I’m running a six month reading competition where you could be in with a chance of winning lots of bookish goodies! Think tea blending workshop vouchers, a self care pack from The Body Shop, a beautiful candle to set the mood and of course book vouchers!

I’ve currently read:

• A book that’s been on your shelf for too long: Sister Outsider – Audre Lorde
• An author you’ve not read before: I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki – Baek Sehee
• A book from your local library: Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor – Xiran Jay Zhao
• A book with disability rep: Overspill – Charlotte Paradise

I’ve been super lucky that I’ve loved everything that I’ve read so far. I loved finally reading some of the great Audre Lorde, I’d recommend her to everyone. I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki absolutely lived up to the hype – a brilliant non fiction. My middle grade delight (Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor) was absolutely brilliant and perfect for Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. And Overspill? Oh I adored Overspill.

I’m currently reading The Sun Bearer Trials by Aiden Thomas and loving it. It’s a YA fantasy and it’s for the prompt with trans rep, and wow is the rep good!

I’ve got four more to read between now and the end of the month:

• A book with indigenous rep: Walking in Two Worlds by Wab Kinew
• A debut novel: Honey Witch – Sydney J. Shields
• A book you’ve been really excited for: Sweetness in the Skin – Ishi Robinson
• A book that a friend recommend: Dominoes – Phoebe McIntosh

It’s definitely do-able but I will be putting some focus on these so that there’s no last minute panic!
