Earlier this year I spent a long weekend in Lisbon in the glorious sunshine with beautiful iced oat lattes and great friends. We found vegan nata’s and explored so much of the city. And of course I had to pop into a couple bookshops while I was there!
I managed to get round four bookshops but there are loads more if you want to explore further afield. Let me take you around the ones I found:
Livraria Bertandt

Stop one of four on our Lisbon is Bertrandt, the oldest bookshop in the world and even holds its own Guinness World Record.
The shop itself has beautiful domed ceilings with deep brown shelves and a very pleasant atmosphere. It’s been open since 1732(!) and while it may feel modern and renovated inside, there are certainly hints of it’s historic nature.
They also stamp books and you get a free tote with its history on too!
Salted Books Lisbon

Up next is one of favourites visually: Salted Books. I’m absolutely obsessed with the colour of the walls in here, the colour drench worked so well and really made the books centre stage.
There was such a great range of books in here, I spotted some favourites as well as a handful on my TBR too.
Livraria de Travessa

This bookshop is an absolute must see in Lisbon, it’s one of those hidden beauties you can spend hours in. There’s also a stunning book nook!
They had a huge range of Portuguese books and this beautiful light side room was mostly English speaking. I couldn’t get over these beautiful antique stepladders!
Ler Devegar

The final stop on our Lisbon bookish tour is the infamous Ler Devargar. Settled in a bustling area, you’ll miss this one if you’re not too careful.
It’s such a beautiful shop with a great range of books and even has a huge printing machine upstairs too!
