Review:

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It’s not all Care Bears and old bikes, it’s full on American style diners and cars too. But could it also be the death of you? Mysterious disappearances and deaths are increasing around the assumed randomly disposed nostalgic items. Who better to investigate than a lieutenant and a man with incredible power to understand something’s truth?

This book is brilliantly clever. Set between the UK and the US, with similarly rotten governments and billionaires across the seas, as well as a particularly disturbing laboratory too, it’s pacy plot kept me thoroughly entertained. The narrative is original and its grittiness is well suited to the dark pasts hidden behind our characters.

The dynamic between Sunil and Adam is absolutely perfect and I could read more and more about them if I could. They carry the book with their wit and amusing relationship; brilliantly opposite but terribly similar. The vibrancy in which these two shine is a tonic in comparison to the sometimes dark and sinister storyline.

I’d also recommend listening to this on audio – it really added another level to our characters and was a truly enjoyable experience.

Vintage Books were kind enough to gift me this copy, it was requested as part of their influencer program. I’m under no obligation to read or post as part of that deal, but I’m delighted to say I thoroughly enjoyed it!
