Bookshop Visits – The Book Ferret– Arundel

Next up on my tour of bookshops is The Book Ferret, situated in the beautiful town of Arundel.

The Book Ferret opened some years ago and has recently been taken over by new owner James, eager to keep the indie bookshop alive and kicking. Situated on the high street, just down the road from the infamous castle, this is a beautiful location for a bookshop.

The window display excited me before I even entered – I spotted a favourite in the window and isn’t that just a great sign? (The Moon Represents My Heart by Pim Wangteachawat if you haven’t read it, you’re missing out!) Walking in you’ll find a bestsellers table, surrounded by shelves of local authors and a great non-fiction selection. Don’t forget to look up and those beautiful beams!

As you carry on through you’ll find shelves filled with fiction for adults and all the way down to younger readers too, with personal recommendations from the owners. I love when the booksellers themselves can recommend books to you and I had a wonderful chat with the owner too.

The Book Ferret are currently undergoing a name change but they’re having some fun with it – they have some clues laid out for you to guess and if you guess correctly, you could be in with a chance to win a £50 book token! All money raised goes towards their chosen charity, Turning Tides, check out their Facebook page and Just Giving page for more details.

I walked away with a copy of The Moon Represents My Heart as a present for a friend and an all-round positive experience of the bookshop. I’ll absolutely be popping in again when we next make it out to Arundel.
