Continuing on our bookshop tour, we find ourselves in the quaint town of Alfriston.

Much Ado Books opened in 2003 on the high street and then relocated seven years later to the beautiful Grade Two listed building you can see above.
Spread over two floors, Much Ado boasts an impressive collection of both new and used books and is quite the sight to behold. As you enter the shop you’ll find new releases and beautiful gifts downstairs. Rounding the corner we climb a stairway made of books (no really), to the equally beautiful first floor.

Split into genres, upstairs has a blend of new and used books and has cosy little reading corners too. There’s also a gorgeous outside area too. This absolutely feels like the kind of bookshop that you could spend a solid afternoon in.
Owners Cate and Nash were wonderful when I visited, we got there just before closing and they were kind enough to let me sneak in quickly and grab some photos.
If the above hasn’t convinced you already, this week, Much Ado Books have been awarded as one of the Best Browsable Bookshops in the UK – a huge congratulations to them and very well deserved!
You can find out more about them here and if you’re in the area then definitely pay them a visit (they’re even open on Sundays!).
