Books to Fight Climate Change and Injustice

The world is changing as a result of our collective actions. It’s not too late to educate yourself and help in the fight for a greener future.

Consumed – Aja Barber. A review into the world’s obsession with fast fashion and the issues it causes downstream of our excessive spending. This has changed my shopping habits for good, I implore you to read this.

Braiding Sweetgrass – Robin Wall Kimmerer. A stunning recount of the authors life and the impacts that her Indigenous culture have had on it. A beautiful mix of science, Indigenous wisdom and precious memories. This book featured in one of past boxes too!

No One is Too Small to Make a Difference – Great Thunberg. A pocket sized pick me up of Thunberg’s speeches across her tour of the world.

Burnt – Chris Saltmarsh. Part of Pluto Press’s Outspoken series (which I adore), Burnt reviews how we have got to our planet’s current sorry state and urges action as a result. Another great manifesto for change.

All We Can Save – Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and Katharine K. Wilkinson. A beautiful anthology comprising of the writing of 60 women who stand strong on the barracks of the fight. Empowering messages with so many different voices, a pleasure to read.

This Changes Everything – Naomi Klein. The perfect read to capture the true battle here: capitalism vs. the climate. Myths debunked and truths exposed, an intoxicating read.

As Long As Grass Grows – Dina Gilio-Whitaker. A must read for anyone wanting to learn about the colonisation of indigenous culture and the events at standing rock.

Emergent Strategy – Adrienne Maree Brown. A more emotional look into climate change, Brown asks us to understand the changes we are are being asked to make. Enlightening!

This is Not a Drill – Extinction Rebellion. Another pocket size find, this is activist group Extinction Rebellion’s manifesto. Punchy and powerful.

It’s Not That Radical – Mikaela Loach. A look on how the climate crisis has come about, who is to blame (and how they managed it) and what we can do next.
